I’ve been in Dalian for two years, and I haven’t tried many of these Northeastern dishes yet.
Fish cooked in a large iron pot with pancakes on top – highly nutritious and absolutely delicious
Pickled vegetables are a must-eat for people in the Northeast during winter; served with big bones, it’s simply amazing
Potatoes stewed with large eggplants – they don’t look very appealing, but they are extremely delicious with rice; you won’t realize just how good they are until you try them
Stewed fish in oil – the best way to cook fish in Northeast China
Pig-killing dish – both people from the Northeast and those from other regions enjoy this dish

Spare ribs stewed with string beans – oily but not greasy, loved by both the elderly and children
Stewed bone with sauce – after eating the meat, one must suck out the marrow
Don’t forget the Northeastern stew – it’s number one across the country
