Promoted to section head, but no overtime pay – which would you choose?

It depends on what suits one better. If managing people comes naturally, it’s not a big deal even without overtime pay; but if management is difficult and the subordinates are hard to control, it’s better to simply earn overtime pay and avoid the hassle.
Make your own decision; you’re already so old
If one is suitable to be a section chief, then of course pursuing a career in management offers better prospects. If it’s not suitable, just keep working overtime for extra pay. . .

Of course I choose promotion – there are opportunities for growth after that, and overtime pay is only temporary
