Qinghai Lake, also known as “Cuwenbu,” which means “blue sea” in Tibetan, is located in the Qinghai Lake Basin in the northwest of Qinghai Province. It is not only China’s largest inland lake but also its largest saltwater lake. It was formed by fault subsidence between Datong Mountain and Riyue Mountain in the Qilian Mountains and the southern mountains of Qinghai. Located on the plateau, Qinghai Lake has an average daily temperature of around 15 degrees in July and August. This is the most beautiful time for Qinghai Lake, when thousands of acres of rapeseed flowers bloom in full glory; the vast expanse of blue waters is surrounded by bright yellow hues. The wildflowers in the high-altitude pastures come in a variety of colors, resembling silk and brocade, while countless fat and strong cattle and sheep add to the scenic beauty.
Not bad, not bad – a great place for self-driving tours!
The view is really beautiful! It’s a shame I went there last time in winter; it was a bit cold. I’ll try to go there in spring or autumn.
In spring, there are still large areas of rapeseed flowers, which are very beautiful!
I passed by several times, but sadly I wasn’t able to experience it in person
