When selecting an electromagnetic flowmeter, it is necessary to take into account its protection rating. Jiangsu Hengda Instrument Co., Ltd. will explain to you how to choose one properly. Under normal circumstances, the protection rating of integrated electromagnetic flowmeters is IP65. According to standard GB4208-84 and the International Electrotechnical Commission standard IEC529-76 regarding the protection ratings for the enclosures of electrical and electronic products: 1. IP65: This rating indicates protection against water spray; the sensor enclosure of an electromagnetic flowmeter can withstand water sprayed at it from any direction using a faucet, with a water pressure of 30 Kpa, a flow rate of 12.5 L/S, and a distance of 3 meters. 2. IP67: The sensor of the electromagnetic flowmeter can be submerged in water for a short period of time. 3. IP68: **This is the standard for submersible models – they are suitable for long-term use in water or underground under certain pressures. In such cases, the sensor and the display unit of the electromagnetic flowmeter are separated, resulting in a split-type electromagnetic flowmeter; it is important to note the protection rating requirements for such flowmeters. Under normal circumstances, the protection rating should be selected based on the actual conditions. If the sensor is to be installed below the ground level in an area prone to flooding, IP68 should be chosen; whereas if it is installed above the ground level, IP65 or IP67 is appropriate. Under no circumstances should the display area of an electromagnetic flowmeter be exposed to water or flooded, as this can cause damage to the flowmeter.
