The general procedure for flushing a drum level gauge is as follows: (1) Open the drain valve of the level gauge, so that the steam connection pipe, the water connection pipe, and the level gauge itself are all flushed with both steam and water. (2) Close the water connection valve of the level gauge to allow the steam connection pipe and the level gauge itself to be flushed by steam. (3) Open the water connection valve of the water level gauge and close the steam connection valve, so that the water connection pipe is flushed with water. (4) Open the steam connection valve and close the drain valve; once the flushing is complete, restore normal operation of the water level gauge. During the flushing process of the water level gauge, care must be taken to prevent the steam isolation valve and the water isolation valve from closing simultaneously. This prevents both steam and water from entering the gauge at the same time, causing the gauge to cool down rapidly; cold air then enters the gauge through the drain valve, accelerating the cooling process further ; When the water connection valve is switched to the steam connection valve and the working fluid enters, the large temperature difference can cause damage to the level gauge. When timing the flushing water level under working pressure, the drain valve should be opened very slightly. This is because the pressure in the gauge differs significantly from the external ambient pressure; if the water release valve is opened too wide, the steam and water expand violently, resulting in high flow rates that could damage the mica sheets or cause the gauge to explode. The larger the water release valve is opened, the more pronounced the aforementioned phenomenon becomes. Additionally, when timing the flushing water level, be careful to ensure personal safety to prevent scalds from the spraying water
