When selecting one, it is necessary to determine its diameter and understand its wiring method in order to ensure proper installation and use. Today, Jiangsu Hengda Instrument Co., Ltd. will provide a detailed explanation of the wiring methods for electromagnetic flowmeters as well as the ways to determine their diameter. I. The method for determining the diameter of an electromagnetic flowmeter is as follows: The minimum flow velocity of the fluid required for use with an electromagnetic flowmeter must be greater than 0.5 meters per second; under normal conditions, the flow velocity should be between 2 and 4 meters per second, with a maximum of no more than 8 meters per second. Therefore, when determining the diameter of an electromagnetic flowmeter, we must take full account of selecting an appropriate pipe size while ensuring its measurement accuracy. First, we need to determine the flow range of the electromagnetic flowmeter; based on this flow rate, we can calculate the approximate diameter of the pipe. After that, we consider the requirements regarding accuracy. Generally, a normal flow velocity is sufficient, which is 2–4 meters per second, and with this information, we can calculate the pipe diameter. II. The wiring method for electromagnetic flowmeters is as follows: The wiring of an electromagnetic flowmeter consists of two parts – the external wiring box and the internal wiring. The external wiring usually includes the power supply connections, along with 6 signal output wires: 2 wires for 4-20MA output, 2 wires for RS232 communication, and 2 wires for RS485 communication. There is also a grounding terminal wire on the body of the flowmeter. The internal wiring typically consists of 5 wires, which are used to connect the amplifier and the sensors: 2 wires for the field winding, 2 wires for the electrodes AB, and 1 wire for grounding C. Usually, during installation, all that is required is to connect the external wires for the dial cover according to the instructions; it’s not very complicated. When determining the diameter and wiring method of an electromagnetic flowmeter, one can refer to the information above in order to make the right selection and installation. If the pipes used are entirely plastic and do not conduct electricity, it is necessary to ensure proper grounding to prevent drift or inaccurate flow measurements.
