The temperature of the circulating ammonia water is around 75°; if the temperature is too low, the tar in the gas will not condense, which can affect subsequent processing stages.
When the temperature of the circulating ammonia water is low, ammonia water does not evaporate easily, which results in poor cooling efficiency of the gas. Additionally, due to the very low water temperature, the bottom of the gas collection pipe cools down significantly, increasing the viscosity of the condensed tar and making it easier for the gas collection pipe to become clogged. The dew point temperature of the gas entering the gas collection pipe is related to the moisture content of the coal fed in. When the moisture content of the coal is between 8% and 11%, this dew point temperature ranges from 60 to 70 °C. To ensure sufficient driving force for the evaporation of ammonia vapor, the temperature of the water entering the system must be 5–10 °C higher than the dew point temperature of the gas; therefore, circulating ammonia water at a temperature of 70–75 °C is used for cooling purposes.
