International standards in the field of industrial wireless communication include Wireless HART, WIA-PA, WIA-FA, and ISA100.11a. The Wireless HART communication protocol was developed by the HART Communication Foundation and is supported by process control manufacturers such as Emerson Process Management, ABB, E+H, MACTek, P+F, and Siemens. On April 12, 2010, it was recognized by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), becoming the international wireless standard for industrial process measurement and control, IEC62591. WIA-PA (Wireless Network Specification for Industrial Process Automation) was proposed by the Standardization Administration of China and supported by the China Industrial Wireless Alliance. On October 14, 2011, it was recognized by the International Electrotechnical Commission, becoming the international standard IEC62601 for wireless applications in industrial process measurement and control. WIA-FA (Industrial Wireless Network Technology Specification for Factory Automation) was developed under the leadership of the Shenyang Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences. It was recognized by the International Electrotechnical Commission in September 2014, becoming the world’s first wireless technology specification designed for high-speed automatic control applications in factories. This standard is an important technology for enabling online reconfiguration in factory automation production lines, and it plays a significant role in facilitating the transformation of the manufacturing industry from traditional low-cost, mass-production models to high-end, high-value-added, personalized production models. ISA100.11a was developed by the ISA100 Industrial Wireless Committee of ISA (International Society of Automation). It has received support from process control manufacturers such as Honeywell, Yokogawa, ExxonMobil, GE, and Yamatake. In September 2014, it was recognized by the International Electrotechnical Commission, becoming the international wireless standard IEC62734 for industrial process measurement and control. Among the above four international standards, except for WIA-FA which is designed for factory automation production lines, the other three are intended for industrial process measurement and control; users can choose the appropriate standard based on their field of application.
