For the design of a project from scratch, are there any basic steps and guidelines for different professional fields? Is it usually the case that the processing stage is carried out first, followed by electrical work, automation, HVAC systems, and then civil engineering, or is it mostly done simultaneously, with each phase relying on the completion of the previous ones?
Generally, process design is carried out first, followed by basic engineering design, and finally detailed engineering design.
Basically, first the process team communicates with the civil engineering team; once the process requirements are established, the civil engineering team creates a rough layout of the structure, after which the civil engineering design begins. The electrical team then starts its own design work based on the process and civil engineering requirements that have been determined. Generally, the process is started first: a preliminary plan for the process flow, layout plans, equipment lists, etc., are established. If issues related to other specialties arise during the design process, discussions with those specialties can be held first, after which a preliminary design plan can be finalized. Once these plans are set, the process engineering team must provide the necessary conditions for the other specialties to carry out their designs. If any problems arise on the part of the other specialties, they may request that the process engineering team adjust the design plan. During this time, the process engineering team also continues to refine its own design. The specialties involved typically include electrical engineering, instrumentation, civil engineering, fire protection, piping, general layout planning, HVAC, and equipment engineering. After each specialty has completed its design, it is necessary for the relevant specialty or specialties to provide their approval, so as to confirm their respective responsibilities and avoid overlaps.
It must take many round trips, right? Is the chief designer mainly responsible for coordinating this task?

But these days, many projects are carried out in reverse order: the construction drawings are made first, followed by the preliminary design, especially in domestic projects.
