Bentley AutoPIPE News October 2006: A new version has been released. The Bentley AutoPIPE XM version (version number – v08.09.00.14, in English) is now available officially. This version requires a new Bentley XM license. Note: The XM license can also be used with older versions, such as 8.60, 8.51, 8.50, and 6.3. Some of the key features of AutoPIPE XM are as follows: • New StressISO function: It includes fully annotated stress axonometric views as well as data tables for customizing input and output results (an additional license is required). Engineer’s notes have been added, including reference numbers for equipment such as pumps, as well as steel structures and supports. It can be marked on axonometric drawings in Bentley Redline, AutoCAD, or third-party programs. Fully customizable axonometric views; customizable data tables. • Standard ASME B31.3:2004 (released in mid-2005) has been incorporated. • Reference points can be added and created for equipment, containers, as well as in reports. • Complete CAD bracket numbers • Measurement distances • Thermal bending analysis – different temperatures at the top and bottom of the pipe. Some features of the future AutoPIPE XM SELECT Release 1 (early 2007): • Integration with Bentley STAAD (a very popular software for steel structure analysis worldwide) – automatic transfer of the forces acting on pipe supports to the STAAD steel structure model. In STAAD, it is possible to directly view the pipe model and perform collision checks between pipes and structures. • Save any model as a file in Caesar cii format, enabling full import and export functionality similar to Caesar II. • Under the action of wind loads, dampers can be activated and analyzed. • The nuclear version of AutoPIPE utilizes the ADLPIPE analysis engine to provide more comprehensive analysis for ASME classes 1, 2, 3, as well as fatigue and thermal transient analysis (Q1/2007). In June 2006, research seminars on AutoPIPE and PlantFLOW were successfully held in China. As Bentley’s gold-level agent in China, our company organized these research seminars on AutoPIPE and PlantFLOW with success this June. The five-day training program attracted over 60 senior engineers from various parts of the country; these engineers came from well-known engineering firms in China, Chinese branches of multinational companies, and even engineers from Taiwan. This training was led by Mark, a senior technical engineer from Bentley and CAE product manager. During this week, we demonstrated some new features of AutoPIPE XM version, which received unanimous praise from engineers.
