As the price of liquefied gas falls, the economic viability of operating alkylation units becomes increasingly evident. How many alkylation units are there in China currently? What method to use? How are they all doing? How is the waste acid from sulfate alkylation treated?
Does anyone know what the appropriate alkene to alkane ratio is in the feed to the alkylation unit?
I remember the theory being 1:1, but in practice an excess of alkane is required.

Alkylation is not a new technology; it’s just that due to the persistent problem of acid contamination, its use has been limited over the years. Alkylated oils are the best components for gasoline blending, especially as environmental regulations impose increasing demands for higher-quality, cleaner gasoline. Moreover, the yield of alkylated gasoline is high. It offers good economic benefits.
Does any fellow marine engineer know whether the alkylation and spent acid regeneration units at CNOOC Huizhou Refinery are in operation?
The alkylsulfonation unit at Huizhou Refinery, operated by 6# Clauspolunit, has been in operation for some time now, while the waste acid regeneration unit has not yet started operating.
The waste acid treatment plant has now been put into operation.
