In this match, China’s opposite hitter Gong Xiangyu scored 14 points and became the top scorer, while main attacker Li Yingying earned 13 points. Opposite hitter Yan Ni scored 9 points, and the other opposite hitter Hu Mingyuan as well as main attacker Zhang Changning contributed 7 points and 6 points respectively. Turkey’s main attacker Meriha and setter Karakurt both scored 15 points, while wing attacker Gunes scored 10 points. In today’s first match, defending champions the United States overcame Poland 3-1 to secure their first victory at the Jiangmen event, with the scores across the four sets being 21-25, 25-23, 25-15, and 25-11. The underdog Polish team suffered two defeats in as many matches this week. The American player Drewes scored 21 points, while the main attacker Bachi and the wing attacker Ogboagu scored 17 and 16 points respectively; the main attacker Robinson added 10 points. Poland’s top scorer, the outside hitter Smazek, contributed 18 points. Tomorrow, the Jiangmen leg of the World League will reach its final day. The Chinese women’s volleyball team competes against its rival, the United States, while the two strong European teams, Turkey and Poland, face off against each other.
