Unlike traditional air pollutants, VOCs are volatile; therefore, any process involving the storage, transportation, mixing, stirring, cleaning, coating, drying, or other handling of substances containing VOCs can result in the emission of these compounds. Meanwhile, according to the \"2018 Monitoring Plan for Volatile Organic Compounds in Ambient Air in Key Areas\" issued in China, municipalities directly under the Central Government, provincial capitals, and cities designated as separate planning units are required to monitor a total of 117 compounds, while cities at the prefecture level need to monitor 70 compounds; as a result, the monitoring of VOCs becomes even more complex.
