Dead skin on the feet (jiangzi)

Does the dead skin on the feet (jiangzi) grow longer and more quickly the more it’s rubbed? Lately I’ve been into exfoliating; it removes a layer at a time, and it seems like a lot – a significant amount is removed each time. It grew back in a few days. What’s going on? . .
It is a phenomenon that usually appears after the age of 45; it is a sign of aging and part of the natural order, so one should accept it calmly
If dead skin can be seen, one possible cause could be a fungal infection.

Sandpaper. . There are foot scrubbers available online, but they don’t seem to work well.
Athlete’s foot is quite common; however, it hasn’t been causing much itching this year.
