1) The total storage capacity of the liquid chlorine storage area in enterprises that produce liquid chlorine should not exceed the total amount of liquid chlorine required for three days of normal production by the enterprise. The storage amount of liquid chlorine at the units that use it should not exceed the total amount required for normal 7 days of use by those units. If it constitutes a major hazard source, strict monitoring measures should be established. (2) The inlet and outlet pipes of the liquid chlorine storage tank should be equipped with two or more stop valves, which should be inspected regularly to ensure they are in good condition. (3) The safety requirements for liquid chlorine storage tanks include: a. For tanks with a storage capacity of 1 ton or more, the settlement of their foundations should be measured annually. b. When the storage tank is installed outdoors, it should have a ceiling made of non-combustible materials or thermal insulation measures. c. It is strictly prohibited to store flammable and combustible materials within 20 meters of the storage tank. d. The storage volume in the tank shall not exceed 80% of the tank’s capacity.

The tank area is equipped with alarms and even monitoring devices such as cameras. The requirements for pressure gauges on storage tanks, as well as for the calibration and testing of safety valves, are also quite strict.
