Electromagnetic remote-transmission metal tube rotameters generally employ a differential transformer structure. On the basis of local indication, a four-link mechanism is used to drive the differential transformer, converting the position signal of the float into a displacement of the differential transformer’s core. This signal can then be used in conjunction with a differential meter for flow display, or it can be converted into a 0–10 mV or 0–50 mV signal for use with a millivoltmeter that has flow scales, indicating the flow rate. Alternatively, it can be converted into a corresponding standard current signal of 0–10 mA or 4–20 mA, which is then used in combination with an electric unit instrument to achieve flow indication and control. These signals can also be sent to a computer, where they are processed to display the instantaneous flow rate and cumulative flow rate.
