Steam flow meters should preferably not be installed in areas with mechanical vibrations, such as at the inlet and outlet of reciprocating pumps or compressors. Although many steam manufacturers are now taking various measures to reduce the impact of vibration on steam flow meters, such as the ROSEMOUNT 8800D which utilizes a mass balance sensing system and adaptive digital signal processing technology (ADSP), thereby offering excellent resistance to vibration. However, these measures can only reduce the impact of vibrations, not eliminate it completely. II. Steam generation must take place within a stable flow field; therefore, steam flow meters, just like throttling differential pressure flow meters, require a certain length of straight pipe. The length of the straight pipe section directly affects the rated accuracy of the steam flow meter. Taking the DN100 steam flow meter as an example, the upstream straight pipe section should be at least 10 times the diameter of the pipe, while the downstream straight pipe section should be at least 5 times the diameter of the pipe. After meeting this minimum straight pipe section requirement, the flow rate can be adjusted using a correction factor. This correction factor can be set using equipment management software or a manual operator. Under normal circumstances, steam flow meters installed in horizontal, vertical, or inclined pipes can meet the accuracy requirements. However, the best practice for installation on horizontal pipes is to place the vortex generator on a horizontal plane, so that when measuring the liquid, sediment can be prevented from interfering with the frequency of the vortex generator. When measuring gases or vapors, it prevents liquids from interfering with the frequency of the vortex generator. IV. To ensure measurement accuracy, steam flow meters must be calibrated regularly. The calibration of steam is generally carried out in factories or laboratories, but it should be noted that the calibration environment in a factory differs from the actual operating environment. For example, the factory calibration of the ROSEMOUNT 8800D is performed by default in a pipeline. However, in actual engineering applications, it is certainly not possible for all pipes to have the same wall thickness; therefore, there is a certain difference in inner diameter, and correction factors must be taken into account in practical applications to make adjustments. V. The steam flow meter should be installed only after the pipeline has been flushed and purged, in order to prevent impurities from accumulating around the steam generator and affecting the formation and frequency of vortices; this is done to ensure stable measurement performance after the system is put into operation.
