Do you think choice is more important than effort?
The direction is wrong; no matter how hard you try, it’s useless
The story of trying to catch fish by climbing a tree is about someone climbing a tree in an attempt to find fish. There’s also the idea of going in the opposite direction – it means choosing the wrong path. So it is quite important to choose the right direction. Otherwise, the efforts yield little result.
Choose the right direction and then work hard.
A more objective view is that effort and choice complement each other; neither can be lacking
Make your choice first, then keep working hard on the path you have chosen
Strive to make your choice; the choice determines the direction of your efforts!
I think what is more important than choices and effort is mindset; if the mindset is flawed, no matter what choices are made or how hard one works, the outcome might still be problematic.
