Chelyabinsk, located on the Kama River in the eastern part of the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia, is one of Russia’s major industrial centers. In August this year, Haier’s connected washing machine factory was officially put into operation here. After the groundbreaking ceremony was held at the plant last May, its employees overcame numerous challenges such as cold weather, an unfamiliar environment, and language barriers, and completed the construction of the plant on schedule within just one year. Like most Russian cities, Cherny, located on the Kama River, has long and cold winters, with temperatures often dropping to around minus 30 degrees Celsius. Construction of the 30,000-square-meter concrete floor at the Haier Russia washing machine manufacturing facility was halted due to the extreme cold. “The concrete should be allowed to cure at a temperature of at least 10 degrees Celsius for seven days, but this was completely impossible at that time. ”Sun Guiwei, the factory manager, said that the Russian employees suggested waiting until after the harsh winter before starting work, which would result in a delay of over three months in the project timeline. But he believes that as long as the goal is firm, it is possible to overcome difficulties. Sun Guiwei’s idea was ultimately accepted by the Russian employees. After discussion, they adjusted the construction sequence as necessary and decided to use local heating for the concrete surface in order to reach the temperature required for the concrete to cure properly. Due to the large size of the factory, construction workers first covered the roof with sandwich panels, then divided the interior space into multiple areas, and used diesel heaters to heat each area. After more than a month of relentless effort, the engineers finally completed the paving of all floors in the factory, thereby ensuring that this phase of the project was finished on schedule and that the strength of the floors met all local standards. The Russian employees were deeply impressed by the work attitude of the Chinese employees and gave them thumbs up. Sun Guiwei said that Chinese companies drive the development of local industries overseas, making positive contributions to the local economy and people’s well-being. The operation of Haier’s connected washing machine factory in Russia will create more job opportunities in Cherny, located on the Kama River. The project plans to create 350 jobs, and this number will increase to 600 in the second phase, which will significantly reduce the employment pressure on residents in the area and its surrounding regions. “Haier has an excellent reputation in the area, and many people want to work here. ”Vladimir Romanenko, production manager at Haier’s connected washing machine factory in Russia, said that the workers at Haier enjoy stable incomes that are higher than the local average wage level. The company’s establishment of factories locally promoted economic development and created more job opportunities. “The work atmosphere and corporate culture in Chinese companies deeply attract me, and I have gained a great deal of new work experience here. ”Romanienko said that in April this year, he went to Qingdao, China, to attend a three-week technical training program. For Russian employees, working at Chinese companies represents a completely new work experience, which helps to promote cultural and experiential exchanges between Russia and China.
