Could everyone compare HONEYWELL’s TPS system and PKS system? Some people believe that TPS systems are outdated and on the verge of being phased out, but currently they remain the mainstream choice for users in China. Please share your opinion.
In my opinion, TPS will not be phased out in the short term! The development of PKS is not yet fully mature and more time is needed! It won’t take shape for at least a decade! The new device I’m in charge of still uses TPS, which is about to go into production!
There was considerable pressure to phase out TPS, but as many problems emerged with PKS, TPS retained an advantage in terms of market share. Nevertheless, more and more small projects and systems that are not very large in scale are choosing PKS
I have used both PKS and TPS, and in my opinion, many of the problems that arise with PKS are caused by poor usage habits and inadequate management. For engineers, PKS has advantages over process trend groups, and it is also easier to get started with configuration. Of course, it’s also quite convenient if you’re used to TPS. Putting the sequential control aspect aside, TPS and the core of TPS (hardware and software parameters) are almost identical.
Old systems are generally more mature; when a company’s scale does not expand, the old systems perform better than the new ones. Therefore, it is not easy to promote an upgraded version of a system
Based on personal experience, the TPS system is highly mature and operates safely and stably. Early versions of PKS did encounter many issues during operation, especially the performance of the SERVER was not satisfactory. Thanks to system upgrades and patches, the reliability of PKS has now **improved**.

According to people inside Honey, TPS users are all wealthy people, while even half of the PKS users don’t have much money. Hehe! The old system is more mature, but the new system has a much more user-friendly interface.
I have indeed seen several larger projects use PKS. . . .
