Classification of electromagnetic flowmeters by application: (1) General-purpose type – This type is commonly used in industries such as metallurgy, petrochemicals, papermaking, printing and dyeing, textiles, water supply, and sewage treatment, where medium to large diameter flange-connected models are preferred; Industries such as pharmaceuticals, biology, and fine chemicals commonly use instruments with small or miniature diameters; the integrated clamping connection method or threaded connection method is suitable for many applications in these fields. (2) Explosion-proof type The explosion-proof electromagnetic flowmeter is used in areas with flammable atmospheres. Since the current energy in most electromagnetic flowmeters is relatively high, they are typically designed as explosion-proof, sand-filled, encapsulated, or airtight types. However, nowadays some electromagnetic flowmeters have a significantly reduced excitation power, and there are also intrinsically safe types, formerly known as safety spark types. The flow sensor section and the conversion section can be integrated together under certain conditions, with everything being installed within the hazardous area. (3) Hygienic type: Industries such as cheese, food, pharmaceuticals, and biochemistry require regular steam sterilization; the sensors must be easy to remove and clean. The connections to the pipes should use a structure designed for quick installation and removal as per hygienic standards, and the materials in contact with liquids must be non-toxic and harmless. (4) Submersion-resistant type: This type of sensor is suitable for use in manholes buried underground; it can withstand short-term submersion in water, with a protection rating equivalent to IP67 or NEMA6 ; Those with a protection rating of IP68 can also withstand long-term diving. (5) Submersible type The electromagnetic flowmeter is used to measure the flow rate of water flowing naturally at the free surface in open channels or partially filled underground channels, such as industrial wastewater and sewage. The sensor is installed below the flow-blocking baffle of the open channel and remains submerged in water for an extended period. Multiple shunt models identical in shape to the sensor are installed during periods of high flow to increase the flow rate.
