As the title suggests, under what conditions is the flow velocity of gas in a pipe? I checked the chemical engineering process manual, but it doesn’t mention it explicitly. May I ask everyone……
It is recommended to use the actual condition, as the standard condition can sometimes differ significantly from the actual one.

The reference flow rates are all the operating condition flow rates!
The flow velocity of the medium within the pipeline is, of course, the value under actual operating conditions; converting it to standard conditions holds no significance for the design calculations of the piping system! :)
It should be under operating conditions, but it can be converted to standard conditions for calculation; calculations can also be done under actual operating conditions.

However, due to shortcomings in basic research in China, there is a lack of fundamental data for many substances (especially mixed gases, gas-liquid two-phase flows, and three-phase flows), which makes it impossible to accurately calculate the actual conditions under certain circumstances such as high temperature and high pressure. This is also why the devices designed in China have a high overload capacity – since accurate calculations are not possible, a larger safety factor is applied.
