Which new PVC projects have seen their construction progress slow down or come to a halt due to current market conditions? ?
I don’t know about the new ones, but the impact on production is too significant
The market conditions are poor; many companies have reduced production or even stopped manufacturing, and the progress of our second-phase project has also slowed down.
Coal prices are rising, calcium carbide prices are rising, PVC is no longer profitable, so new projects are being delayed.
As far as I know, in Inner Mongolia, there are companies such as Inner Mongolia Linhai Chemical and Inner Mongolia Chenhongli Chemical whose new PVC plants have seen delays or been halted in their construction due to market, financial, policy, and other factors. Taking into account the increases in costs related to energy and resources, the rise in the price of calcium carbide and electricity are the reasons for halting project construction. Additionally, since nearly 8 tons of raw materials are required for PVC production while only 1 ton of finished product is produced, high transportation costs represent another factor that affects the establishment of PVC production facilities when the site of construction is located far from the places where the finished products are sold. At present, the scale of PVC production projects under construction in our country is generally over 200,000 tons per year, while older enterprises have a capacity of around 50,000 to 100,000 tons per year. Considering this scale factor, it is inevitable that these older enterprises will cease operations. Furthermore, due to our country’s limited capacity to consume chlorine, the sales of chlorine also restrict the construction of PVC projects. Due to the low demand for caustic soda in the northern regions, the sales of caustic soda there also limit the construction of certain projects.
Everyone is wondering what the scale is of those newly established PVC companies Those new processes, equipment, and technologies were adopted. Let’s discuss it; some of these ideas might be useful as references for other companies.
We need to reach 260,000 units this year, and we also need to upgrade the capacity to 500,000 units per ton; it’s not clear whether that will be possible. Our goal is to reach 1,000,000 units, making it the largest in Asia – but the prospects don’t seem very promising. Currently, maintenance work is underway at Yili Chemical. Our second phase is proceeding as usual; there will be a bidding process for large-scale equipment at the end of the month, and currently work is underway on the civil engineering aspects
The moving equipment has been ordered; now it’s time to order the stationary equipment.
