The selection principles for vortex flowmeters take into account the characteristics of the steam industry; first and foremost, the properties of high-temperature steam must be considered. Since it is a medium such as high-temperature steam, the first step in selection is to consider the temperature resistance of the sensor. Next is to determine the physical and density properties of the process medium. For example: the temperature, pressure, density, viscosity, and electrical conductivity of the medium ; Flow measurement range ; Allowed pressure loss, etc. Vortex flowmeters are types of flowmeters that are sensitive to distortions in the flow velocity distribution within pipes, as well as to rotating flows and flow fluctuations. Therefore, great attention must be paid to the installation conditions of these devices in actual pipelines, and the following installation guidelines must be strictly followed: 1. Reducing the impact of vibrations on vortex flowmeters should be considered an important issue during their on-site installation; they should be installed as far away as possible from sources of vibration and areas with strong electromagnetic interference. 2. Vortex flowmeters can only measure in one direction; when installing them, make sure that the flow direction of the medium is consistent with the direction indicated by the flowmeter’s arrow. There should be sufficient space around the installation location to facilitate installation and maintenance. 3. The preferred installation method for vortex flowmeters is vertical installation, with the fluid flowing through the flowmeter from bottom to top. The flow meters are to be installed in vertical pipes, with the flow direction being from bottom to top; in this project, all vortex flow meters are installed vertically. 4. Requirements for straight pipe sections: Given the importance of the two flow parameters in this project, all flow meters are installed upstream of the control valves, and the straight pipe sections are designed to be 20D in length ahead of the meters and 10D behind them. When welding the flanges of the straight pipe sections, the flow meter should be removed; it is absolutely not allowed to weld the flanges while the flow meter is still in place. 5. During installation, ensure that the pipe diameter is slightly larger than or equal to the inner diameter of the instrument; the piping should be concentric with the sensor, with a coaxial deviation of not less than 0.5DN. When using a sealing ring, ensure that its inner diameter is slightly larger than or equal to the inner diameter of the instrument, with the center of the sealing ring aligned with the center of the pipe. 6. It is necessary to take measures to protect the vortex flow meter from rain. If the vortex flow meter is installed outdoors, a rain cover must be installed to prevent water from entering the transmitter’s display, which could cause damage to the electronic components. 7. The cable running path connecting the vortex flow meter should be kept as far away as possible from areas subject to strong electromagnetic interference. It is absolutely not allowed to be laid together with high-voltage cables. Shielded cables should be kept as short as possible, with a maximum length of no more than 500m, and must not be coiled to reduce distributed inductance.
