Operating procedures for magnetic pump – Preparations before startup: a. Remove any debris around the equipment that could pose a risk to the equipment and the operators. b Check whether the process water in the sealing tank is at the normal operating level; add more water if it is insufficient. c Check that all valves on the seal water pipeline are opened and closed correctly. d During the first start-up after a long period of shutdown or after pump maintenance, remove the fan cover of the motor and manually rotate the pump to check whether it turns smoothly; once no issues are detected, reinstall the fan cover. e Open the inlet valve of the pump and close the outlet valve of the pump. f Inform the electrician to supply power to the on-site control panel. Start pump A, and check the sound and vibration of the pump. b Open the pump’s outlet valve after confirming there are no abnormalities. For normal shutdown, close the outlet valve, then immediately stop the motor, and afterwards close the inlet valve. Emergency stop: Immediately shut down the motor, and then close the outlet valve and the inlet valve. Precautions during operation: a. Pay attention to the pressure difference before and after the suction-side filter; an increase in this pressure difference indicates that there are foreign objects blocking the filter, and the pump should be stopped so that the coarse filter can be cleaned. b Are the discharge volume and discharge pressure within the specified values? ; c Are there any abnormal noises or vibrations? If such noises or vibrations occur, it generally indicates corrosion or excessive wear of the bearings. Cavitation in the pump: Open the pump’s outlet valve; when the flow rate reaches a certain level, noise and vibration occur suddenly. If the valve is opened further and the flow rate still does not increase, it indicates that cavitation is present. Venting operations must be carried out when cavitation occurs. Note: Magnetic pumps must never operate under cavitation conditions; continuing to run them in such conditions will cause premature wear of the bearings. Whether the current value of the motor exceeds the rated current. Check whether there is any abnormal overheating in various parts of the g pump. h The pressure of the nitrogen pressure stabilization system should be maintained within the specified range
Some time ago, an operator at my workplace operated a magnetic pump that was not under his responsibility without authorization, which caused a malfunction and nearly led to a safety accident. Original poster, this article is very useful to me.
1. Be sure to fill the pump thoroughly, as most of the bearings in magnetic pumps are made of non-metallic materials. 2. Attention must be paid to the operating temperature of magnetic pump; it must not exceed the specified limit, as this can cause demagnetization of the magnetic rotor, leading to a decrease in efficiency, failure to achieve the designed head pressure, and even complete failure of the pump. In such cases, the magnetic sleeve needs to be replaced.

Magnetic pump – running idle or operating without liquid. It is recommended to install an anti-idle protection device for the pump, which will shut it down automatically within 2 seconds when idling, thereby protecting the pump from damage.
