Orifice plate flow meters can measure gases, liquids, and steam, and they are now widely used in various fields. Step 1: First, we check whether there are any impurities or sediment in the pipeline. To ensure accurate measurements, it is necessary to keep the pipeline clean. In the case of a new pipeline system, it is also required to clean the pipes before installation, to avoid damaging the orifice plates; filters should be installed if necessary. Step two: Check whether the testing instrument is damaged or has poor manufacturing quality. Before installation, ensure that every part is complete and undamaged. Step three: There are two installation methods, one is vertical and the other is horizontal. When installed vertically, the angle between the central vertical line and the instrument’s vertical line should be less than 2°; similarly, when installed horizontally, the angle between the horizontal central line and the horizontal line should also be less than 2°. Step 4: The pipes upstream and downstream of the orifice flow meter must be compatible with those of the instrument; in addition, the connection flanges or threads must also match those of the instrument. In the fifth step, it is necessary to ensure that the diameter of the straight pipe section upstream of the instrument is five times that of the instrument itself, while the straight pipe section downstream must be at least 250 mm in diameter. Step 6: If measuring a low-temperature medium, it is also necessary to select a jacket. Step seven: If measuring gases, calibration must be carried out at a specific pressure. If the gas flows into the atmosphere at the instrument’s outlet, the accuracy of the measurements will be affected. In such cases, a valve should be installed at the instrument’s outlet as a precaution. Step eight: The instruments inside the pipeline should be protected from pressure, and the pressure on these instruments should also be kept low. Step 9: When installing PTFE, be careful as it will deform under pressure, which can cause the nuts to loosen as well. Step 10: If the flow meter has an LCD display, it is essential to avoid direct sunlight, as such light can damage the LCD. Finally, it should be noted that when installing an orifice plate flow meter, the orientation of the orifice plate must be in line with the direction of fluid flow; this is necessary to ensure accuracy in measurements.
