How much does it cost to extract methanol from coke oven gas? With methanol prices so low these days, I want to see how much profit can be made from producing methanol from coke oven gas
The costs vary significantly depending on the raw materials used for production; there is a considerable difference in costs when coal, natural gas, coke oven gas, and so on are used. The cost of producing methanol in conventional plants ranges from 1,200 to 1,600 yuan per ton; in some coal-to-methanol plants with an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons, the production cost is around 1,000 yuan per ton.
It mainly depends on the cost of coke oven gas, electricity consumption per unit, and coal consumption per unit; these factors account for around 90% of the total cost. The cost of methanol should be considered to be in the range of 1400–1800.
