COS hydrolysis data and dry desulfurization data

Dear sea friends, I am currently conducting PHA analysis on the hydrolysis tower and desulfurization tower in terms of process technology. If anyone has information on COS hydrolysis or dry desulfurization (i.e., activated carbon adsorption), please share it. Thank you all. By the way, in both the hydrolysis tower and the desulfurization tower, the feed gas enters from the top and exits from the bottom – why is that? Is it merely to prevent the packing bed from being blown over? The filler is fixed by tray plates on both the top and bottom sides; please give me some advice
I remember the reason to be something about reducing the wear on the filler caused by air currents flowing from below upward; think about it – if you blow on an object from above, it stays in place, but if you change the direction of the airflow, it starts moving around randomly
There is a catalyst inside to prevent it from being blown loose
