Requirements for the installation location: Typically, the enclosure of electromagnetic flow sensors has a protection rating of IP67, and the following requirements apply to the installation location. 1) When measuring mixed-phase fluids, select a location that will not cause phase separation ; When measuring two-component liquids, avoid installing it downstream where mixing has not yet occurred evenly ; When measuring chemical reaction pipes, it should be installed downstream of the section where the reaction is fully complete ; 2) Avoid negative pressure forming inside the measurement tube as much as possible ; 3) Choose a location with minimal vibration; avoid using it near electromagnetic flowmeters ; 4) Avoid areas near large motors, large transformers, etc., to prevent electromagnetic interference ; 5) Locations where single grounding of sensors is easy to implement ; 6) Avoid areas with corrosive gases in the surrounding environment as much as possible ; 7) The ambient temperature ranges from –25/–10 to 50/600°C; the temperature for the physical structure is also limited by the electronic components, resulting in a narrower range ; 8) Avoid direct sunlight as much as possible ; 2. Requirements for the straight pipe section during installation: Note that the electromagnetic flowmeter sensor itself cannot serve as a load-bearing point; it is unable to support the adjacent pipelines, and there must be pipes that hold it in place to bear the weight. To obtain accurate measurements, there must also be a straight pipe section of a certain length upstream of the electromagnetic flowmeter, although the required length is lower compared to that of most other flowmeters. For 90o elbows, T-pipes, concentric reducers, and fully open gate valves, there should be a straight pipe section with a length of 5 times the diameter (5D) from the flange connection surface at the sensor inlet; valves at other opening degrees require 10D ; The downstream straight pipe section is (2–3)D ; But it is necessary to prevent the butterfly valve disc from extending into the sensor’s measurement tube. The lengths of the upstream and downstream straight sections specified in various standards or testing procedures also vary; some electromagnetic flowmeters require longer lengths than is usual.
