Statistical limit on the number of characters entered for Aspen device names

My Aspen is version 11.1, and I found that the length of the device name must be less than 8 characters. Is this the case for everyone? Or are different versions different? 8 characters is too few; sometimes it isn’t sufficient to identify a device. What are everyone’s Aspens like? It’s best to include the version
It’s a bit similar to DOS; it must have evolved from DOS!
I’m not entirely sure if that’s correct; it’s just my personal impression :) The issue seems to stem from the fact that Aspen Plus has a core written in Fortran77, and with Fortran77, it appears that only 8 characters can be used to name variables. The later Aspen HYSYS, on the other hand, has a kernel implemented in C++, allowing for names that consist of long characters. Personal solution: If PLUS must be used, employ the drawing functions in the PLUS software to label your devices and flow names; there are no restrictions on this.
