A few days ago, a friend asked us, as flow meter manufacturers, what kind of flow meter is suitable for measuring biogas. I believe many of you aren’t entirely sure about this. So today, Jiangsu Hengda Instruments will tell you which flow meter is best for measuring biogas, in the hope of helping everyone! 1. The selection of the flow range for gas turbine vortex flowmeters has a significant impact on their accuracy and service life. Moreover, each size of flowmeter has a specific measurement range, and the choice of flowmeter size is also determined by the flow range. The principle for selecting the flow range is that the minimum flow rate during use should not be lower than the minimum flow rate that the instrument can measure, and the maximum flow rate during use should not be higher than the maximum flow rate that the instrument can measure. For applications with intermittent operation where the actual daily operating time of the instrument is no more than 8 hours, 1.3 times the maximum flow rate during actual use is taken as the upper limit for the flow range; for applications with continuous operation where the actual daily operating time of the instrument is at least 8 hours, 1.4 times the maximum flow rate during actual use is taken as the upper limit for the flow range. The lower flow limit for the instrument is appropriately set at 0.8 times the minimum flow rate in actual use. What flow rate is suitable for measuring biogas? 2. A set of twisted vanes is installed in the pipe to form a vortex generator, which causes the fluid to rotate as it passes through, creating a vortex near the center line of the pipe. The center of this vortex rotates around the pipe’s center line while moving forward with the fluid, and its radius of rotation increases, resulting in a spiral-like motion of the vortex’s center. At this point, for a point on the tube wall behind the vortex generator, the velocity of the fluid flowing past it undergoes periodic changes; the frequency of these changes is related to the flow velocity of the fluid. By detecting this frequency, it is possible to determine the flow velocity, and thereby the flow rate. Under the same environmental conditions, gas turbine vortex flowmeters and vortex flowmeters each have their own advantages; it is recommended to choose carefully!
