1. Dried diatomite: Diatomite is subjected to forced drying to prevent damage and grading issues, thereby producing products of different types. Fine particles can be used as additives in pesticides and paper manufacturing; they can extend the efficacy of pesticides and modify the properties of paper. Coarse to medium-grade products can be used for filtration, increasing the content of fertilizers, in concrete, and to enhance high-asphalt pavements. 2. Diatomite filter aids: These are produced by drying, calcining, crushing, and grading to create different types of diatomite filter aids, which can be used in various liquid-solid separation processes; different types of diatomite filter aids are employed for different liquid-solid separation applications. In this regard, the purification and processing of diatomite from a mine in western Yunnan has reached a certain level of development. This mine produces clay diatomite of good quality; it has been confirmed that the main diatoms are Navicula, followed by Mastigocladus, Lunulina, and Cyclotella. According to the screening analysis, particles smaller than -25mm account for 51.97%; the dispersion rate of SiO2 is 63.05%, and the grade is 86.60%. This represents a significant improvement compared to the 84.56% SiO2 content in the original soil. Therefore, the method of removing coarse particles through further screening can be used to improve the grade of the material.
