The manufacturer explains the various washing procedures for hotel laundry equipment. Different fabric materials and different types of dirt require different washing procedures. For many fabrics made of different materials, the washing processes required may vary. For some beginners, it is very difficult to distinguish between these differences. Therefore, to better understand the procedures involved in washing and to achieve high-quality washing results, it is necessary to use a real case study to gain a deeper understanding of the entire process. We will use commonly seen towels and bedsheet types of textiles as examples to explain the entire washing process. First, we need to determine the basic capacity of the laundry equipment in the hotel, and then classify the degree of contamination of the linens. Taking grease stains, fruit juices, tea, and vegetable soups as examples, cleaning is carried out using tap water with a hardness that meets the standards. Before pre-washing, these fabrics should be spread out, so that any hard objects or debris can be removed first, thereby preventing potential damage to the hotel’s washing equipment during the cleaning process. During the pre-washing process, a certain amount of soda ash needs to be added to better remove grease and dirt. Secondly, an appropriate amount of softener should be added before the main washing. It enables the inorganic salt ions in the washing water to integrate with each other, thereby preventing the formation of precipitates such as calcium and magnesium. In cases of lower water temperatures, an appropriate amount of emulsifier should also be added; this allows the non-ionic surfactants in the emulsifier to function effectively below their cloud point (i.e., at low water temperatures), thereby achieving wetting, dissolution, and oil removal effects. Additionally, when the water temperature is high, strong laundry detergent should be added. Higher water temperatures facilitate the dissolution of laundry detergent and also enhance its cleaning effect. For white bed sheets, tablecloths, and towels, it is important not to forget to add bleach during the cleaning process. Generally, it is added after more than half of the main washing time has passed. Later, during the water discharge process, it is also necessary to monitor the normal water quality. When it is found that the acidity or alkalinity of the water is neutral, it indicates that the water addition process has achieved its goal. Under normal circumstances, if the washing equipment in hotels and guesthouses is not overloaded and the washing conditions such as water level, water temperature, and washing time are properly controlled, but the washing results are not satisfactory, it is recommended to add an appropriate amount of sodium hydroxide alongside strong laundry detergent. By adding this substance, better removal of grease from fabrics can be ensured. However, when adding caustic soda, it is essential to pay attention to using the right amount. If the frequency and amount are too high, it will affect the freshness of the clothes. By following such a procedure for washing, the quality of the cleaning will definitely be ensured.
