According to a report in Huashang Daily on August 4, after receiving reports from victims, the newspaper’s reporters added WeChat groups related to prepaid cards, senior health care, and high-interest rebates over the course of nearly three months. They found that these groups all shared one common feature: they aimed to recruit new members by using false promotions, enticing members to pay money under the guise of offering profits, and then using rebates as a lure to attract more people to join the groups. This repeats itself: groups pull together, and then those groups create new groups of their own. It is unknown who is pulling in the investment funds, and where the money has been stolen to. Police analysis revealed that it all starts with getting to know each other through the internet, followed by online transactions; once deceived, it is difficult to gather evidence, solve the case, and recover losses. Scam: An in-depth look at the recurring credit card scam – some people create groups and issue cards under the pretext of offering benefits. Over two months ago, the Huashang Daily’s news hotline received a report from a reader in Xi’an about this recurring credit card scam. The reader said that a family member of hers was scammed in another place, and the same scam occurred in Xi’an as well. At the invitation of this reader, the journalist joined this circular credit card group. Initially, this group was created by a person who introduced himself as Li, claiming to be the owner of a private hospital in the east of Xi’an. From time to time, he would post location information in the group, and occasionally share promotional messages via voice messages, stating that the membership card represented a kind of benefit intended to help people become wealthy sooner. He said that holders of such cards would need to pay 1,008 yuan per month, and they would receive a credit limit of 50,000 yuan. In the first month, two-thirds of the withdrawal limit can be withdrawn, which is 35,000 yuan; in the second month, only 100 or 200 yuan needs to be repaid, after which the limit is restored to 50,000 yuan, allowing another withdrawal of 35,000 yuan. By the same logic, in this way, you can withdraw 420,000 from your card per year. The reporter noticed in the group that it was very active; from late at night until the early hours, people shared information about revolving credit cards and discussed their advantages. Over time, those who pay close attention will notice that it’s always the same seven or eight people who are active in the group – they constantly support the group owner, encouraging others to speak up or posting messages welcoming new members. This initially created group serves as a basic group for attracting members. The group owner lures people by offering substantial benefits, asking them to pay over a thousand yuan to become members; after that, they scan a WeChat QR code within the group to create another WeChat group. In this way, by continuously asking for payments and creating new groups, the owner attracts more people to join. The group owner said in the group: “Revolving credit cards are a new concept; it’s normal for many people not to understand them, but it’s important to learn about them.” Today, we are announcing to everyone that many people from the first batch have received their rechargeable cards, and some of them have already been activated. Take a close look to see whether this is true or a scam. ”Then, information about the card balances will be posted in the group. What exactly is a loop card? Li posted some red bank cards bearing the national flag in a WeChat group. Revealed: Some self-proclaimed doctors in the group supported this claim, but when reporters contacted the hospital, no such person was found. Not everyone in the group \"obeyed\" the instructions given by the group leader; some people argued that it was a scam. At this point, those who support the idea in the group will retort angrily: To apply for such a card, one needs confidence; it’s best to gain a thorough understanding of it. Only by being responsible for oneself can one be responsible for one’s family and friends. Learn a little more, give yourself a chance – don’t miss such a great opportunity. With no interest charges, it’s possible to reuse money for nearly a decade, amounting to millions of yuan. Some people argue that in such a situation one can never become wealthy, nor can they enjoy the benefits of having money available repeatedly. Li often encourages people in the group to join the circular card team, hoping that those in Xi’an and its surrounding areas will get in touch via WeChat or phone, urging everyone to take this opportunity to make money. Whenever Li spoke in the group, those who supported him in the group would keep expressing their “support”. In mid-July, the reporter added on WeChat one of the people who often supported the group owner in the group. This internet user claimed to be a doctor at a hospital in Xi’an; he boasted about his medical skills as well as the advantages of earning money through cycle cards. A few days later, the reporter arranged to meet with her to ask for advice on how to use the rechargeable card; she agreed over the phone but later declined under various excuses. In order to get in touch with this person, the reporter pretended to need her help in contacting the hospital where she worked for medical treatment. She said over the phone that she was studying in another place; when the reporter tried to contact her again, she blocked the reporter. But this supporter remains quite active in the large group, supporting the group owner. Subsequently, the reporter tried to contact her through various channels at the hospital where she claimed to work, but no such person was found. In late July, this supporter posted some form-filled information in the group, but the ID number and bank account details indicated that the user was from another province. The reporter added another supporter; in the group she claimed to be a senior executive at a certain company. After communicating with her privately, her social media profile showed that she was mainly involved in the used car business. The reporter added the group owner and checked her information on Moments; it mainly involved selling insurance. In these groups, how many of those so-called professionals actually have that profession as their real occupation? No one knows. The so-called “reusable credit card” promoted by the group owner is aimed at maximizing profits; cardholders can use it at no cost, without any delays in payments, interest-free, and on a recurring basis. The reporter learned that these reload cards have been identified as scams by police forces in various parts of the country. Police comment: The professions claimed in those groups are often fake, used to deceive people; never believe them. It’s important to understand a basic fact: it’s impossible for an individual to receive **millions in benefits just by paying over a thousand yuan without any reason.** Secondly, if the bank card is not a UnionPay card, how can transactions be carried out using such a card? And where does the so-called millions of yuan in circulating funds come from? There is only one answer: the amount shown is fake; this card is nothing more than a card that costs just a few dollars. The police officer said that when faced with such issues, some people might think that it doesn’t matter whether it’s true or false and decide to register for it first; but that’s extremely naive. By the time you submit an application, you have already fallen for the scammers’ trickery; they have countless ways to empty your pockets. First, to apply for this non-existent credit card, you must provide your real personal information, such as ID number, phone number, home address, etc. Once scammers have gathered a large amount of personal information, they sell it, use it for loans, or employ it in various other illegal activities in order to carry out more targeted fraud against you. After you submit an application, the scamming syndicate will ask you to pay various fees, such as those for upgrading your package or for removing any blemishes on your credit record.
