Piping support is a very important aspect of design, and I would really like to learn from the experiences of all of you.
Pipe supports and hangers represent a challenging aspect of overall pipeline design and are also a key element in it. However, many designers do not pay enough attention to this aspect. Whether the pipe supports and hangers are properly installed or not has an impact on the performance of the entire piping system, and it can even pose safety risks. This is something that deserves special attention, especially in high-temperature/high-pressure environments or under extremely harsh operating conditions. During a training course on qualifications for inspecting pressure pipelines, one instructor once said, “In essence, pipeline operation involves stress analysis of the pipes, that is, the design of supports and hangers.” He admitted that this statement might be somewhat general, but it still highlights the importance of proper installation of pipe supports and hangers in pipeline operations.
Well, yes, that’s exactly what I wanted to ask. I think support brackets represent a challenge in piping design; when deciding on the path of the pipes, one also has to consider how to install those support brackets.
To do a good job with supports and hangers, it is necessary not only to improve theoretical knowledge in this area but also to visit the site more often to observe the actual conditions and gain experience. Generally speaking, it may pose security risks and the like, so it must be taken seriously.
