May I ask where exactly on the tray are the thermometer and pressure gauge installed in a plate tower?
The thermometer should be placed in the liquid phase area of the tray, while the pressure gauge should be located in the gas phase area on the tray.
There should be pressure gauges at both the top and bottom of the tower, and temperature indicators on the reboiler and condenser as well

Thermometers should be installed at both the top and bottom of the tower, and thermometers should also be placed on the sensitive plates. A pressure gauge is sufficient at the top of the tower, unless there are special requirements; for example, in distillation towers where the vapor is extracted, it is advisable to install a pressure sensor at the extraction point
1. Under normal circumstances, temperature and pressure measurements should be available at the tower top, reactor, and sensitive plate. 2. For immature designs, to facilitate research, design several more points. 3. The pressure measurement point must be in the vapor phase region; as for temperature, there are no particularly strict requirements.

The top of the tower and the reactor should be equipped with pressure and temperature measurement points; the pressure measurement point should be located in the gas phase, while it is preferable to have the temperature measurement point in the liquid phase. If that’s not possible, then the gas phase can also be used.
