My son enrolled in an annual English course with VIPKID. Recently, I’ve seen many other parents asking for honest reviews of VIPKID’s services, so I’d like to share my child’s experience after a year of taking courses there, in the hope that it can help others. 1. First, let’s talk about VIPKID’s teaching approach. VIPKID is an online service that offers one-on-one tutoring with foreign teachers, with over 80% of these teachers coming from North America. VIPKID does not assign fixed teachers; instead, students have to schedule lessons on their own. It can be difficult to find good teachers, and it takes some effort to get to work with a teacher whom you prefer. The teacher who teaches each day may be different. 2. The VIPKID English curriculum is based on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in the United States; it is divided into 8 levels in total. VIPKID charges fees on a per-unit basis, with the annual cost being around 20,000 yuan. 3. Finally, I’d like to share my thoughts on taking VIPKID courses for a year. Overall, the child’s performance in these courses was average after a year of study; the costs were not as low as expected, as each lesson with a North American teacher costs over 100 yuan. Although their teachers have standard pronunciation and the teaching methods as well as the quality of the instructors are generally good, it takes a long time for children with a weak foundation to learn*, which means the fees are relatively high. This makes it suitable for families with higher incomes; for families with limited financial resources, it represents a significant expense, as it is considered an elite institution. So after the child completed one year of VIPKID courses, considering factors such as the price and other aspects, it was felt that this platform wasn’t particularly suitable for the child to continue using in the long term; therefore, no further subscription was chosen. Instead, another online tutoring service was selected, which also offers one-on-one lessons with foreign teachers. Unlike VIPKID, this service allows the child to study English at home every day with a dedicated foreign teacher who helps the child learn everyday English conversations, gradually mastering English grammar. It is very helpful for improving speaking and listening skills, and the prices are relatively affordable, with each lesson costing around 18 yuan, resulting in total fees of less than 7,000 yuan per year. Vipkid is an online English teaching institution. The teachers are all from countries like the United States and Canada. The pronunciation is excellent, but there are a few minor issues. 25 minutes per class is really too short. It ends when the child doesn’t find an English-speaking environment

Later on, it became difficult to schedule appointments with the teachers who taught the child regularly. The child’s teachers kept changing, and when I brought this up with the course consultant, they just told me to go there on time in order to secure a spot in the classes.
