Actually, if one were sensible, it should be called “going to the front line for service.” The front line and the frontline give off different impressions. Commanders on the battlefield all say to go and see the front line. Now, some officials also refer to this as a call to go to the grassroots level, to be more involved at the bottom level; however, it’s unwise to elevate oneself in this way.
