Omron PLC Programming Software Tutorial

Our unit uses Omron PLCs, which have a relatively high failure rate due to environmental factors. Other modules are relatively easy to obtain from the market, but CPU modules are problematic due to the programs they contain; they need to be purchased from the company undertaking the project, which takes time and is costly. Is it possible to purchase empty CPU modules, read the original program, and then write it into the CPU module yourself? I’m a beginner in this field; could some expert give me some guidance?

Does anyone have tutorials on Siemens PLCs?
Are there more of them from Siemens or from Omron? I’m looking for tutorials on Omron programming software; could someone kind recommend some?
The Siemens CPU does have the function you mentioned: it’s possible to read the program using software and then upload it to a new CPU (by changing the CPU model in the hardware configuration). As for Omron CPUs, I’m not sure about that. :lol
What if it’s encrypted by the CPU? Could you be more specific? For example, what is used to read the programs, and what is the file extension of the files resulting from reading them? Can reading and writing be done directly on the PLC? This post was last edited by zjt74 on 2008-11-19 at 16:16
It seems that Siemens is still very competitive; it has now become the mainstream.
