What should be considered when choosing a power supply for rooftop signage? Today, let’s take a look at the role of power supplies in rooftop signage. A proper power supply is essential for rooftop signage to function properly; but what if the power supply isn’t chosen appropriately? Both situations can result in the roof markings being too dim or too bright. If they are too dim, visibility is reduced; if they are too bright, it constitutes light pollution. It needs to be just right, so it’s important to choose the power supply carefully. How should one go about choosing it? The total power consumption of the power supply can be calculated using the following formula. Total power consumption = Number of LED light modules scheduled to be used × Power per module × 1.30 (practical safety factor). It is recommended to purchase general switch-mode power supplies or waterproof switch-mode power supplies that are of reliable quality and have excellent voltage regulation capabilities. An output voltage of 12V or less helps to ensure the normal service life of the LED light source. One more thing to keep in mind is that when using LED lighting modules, attention should be paid to the voltage drop issue. It’s not advisable to create just one circuit with all components connected in series from start to finish, as this can easily lead to a short circuit. It’s better to have several parallel circuits, so as to ensure proper distribution of voltage and current.
