Why has the obesity rate increased even as living standards have improved?
As the saying goes: the more idle a person is, the lazier they become; the more they eat, the more hungry they get. How is it possible not to be fat? It is determined by human nature’s tendency toward laziness.
There is an increase in junk food and a decrease in physical activity.
I think the reason is conservation of energy. Now that conditions are better, people drive cars frequently; in the past, most people relied on bicycles or walking. Vehicles have reduced a lot of the energy consumption associated with transportation, so that energy gets stored in our bodies. What do you think?
