Many members say that internal anti-corrosion treatment is not necessary for methanol storage tanks made of carbon steel. But I would like to ask: which companies among our peers do use internal anti-corrosion treatment for their methanol storage tanks? And if they do, what materials are used for that purpose? Methanol is a relatively strong organic solvent; could this cause ordinary anti-corrosion materials to dissolve and age? If it’s not a carbon steel storage tank, you can also share your opinion.
If you must use it, I recommend PE with a steel lining (rotomolding process). The price is 350 yuan per square meter. Currently, the price of stainless steel 304 is 16,000 yuan per ton; stainless steel can also be considered (if the owner can afford it).
It’s better not to use it; the manufacturing process is simple. If corrosion protection is necessary, stainless steel is the better choice. To reduce equipment costs, the walls of the storage tank can be made thinner, with carbon steel materials used on the outside for reinforcement.
