On October 30, the Feed Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences announced that China has made significant breakthroughs in the field of one-carbon biosynthesis: for the first time in the world, the synthesis of proteins from carbon monoxide has been achieved, and industrial production capacity on the order of tens of thousands of tons has been established. This breakthrough overcomes the spatial and temporal limitations of natural protein synthesis in plants, providing a powerful tool to address China’s biggest weakness in agriculture – its high dependence on imported feed proteins – and it is also of great significance for helping to achieve the **\"dual carbon\" goals**.
I don’t know which is safer compared to genetically modified organisms. ;P
Last time I heard it was synthetic starch, and now it’s said to be protein. How can something that contains only carbon monoxide and no nitrogen be considered protein? ;P
