There is a pressure vessel with a flange cover having an outer diameter of 110 mm. There are openings on this flange cover through which pipes pass; the outer diameter of these pipes is 40 mm, their inner diameter is 16.5 mm, and the diameter of each opening is 42 mm. When performing verification using SW6, which value should be entered as the diameter of the openings? 42 or 16.5? Thank you

GB150 states that reinforcement is required for openings in the shell; however, for openings of this size on the shell, no reinforcement is necessary. Should this be treated as a component?
If you enter the hole size, it means that overall reinforcement has been carried out, and the thickness of the flange cover naturally increases; the hole size you enter should be the inner diameter of the pipe plus twice the additional thickness. Another algorithm does not require input regarding the opening size; instead, it directly calculates the reinforcement for the pipe opening. It is also feasible to use the method of increasing the thickness of the flange cover as a means of reinforcement. However, the flange cover thickness calculated by the two algorithms differs; the final thickness can be chosen based on actual conditions :)

Based on the considerations for reinforcement through openings, if there are openings, it should be 42 I guess
It’s clearly stated in point 150: what should the size of the opening not exceed, and so on? Reading by oneself is the best; it’s very useful!
The opening diameter is the inner diameter of the pipe fitting plus twice the thickness allowance.
