If the other person throws their phone at you and you fail to catch it, causing it to break, how should responsibility be divided?

When the other party returns your phone to you, they are at a close distance and throw it in the hope that you can catch it; yet you fail to do so and the phone gets broken. How should responsibility be divided in this case?
You use your phone to hit someone and still expect others to pay for it? Others still need to get their injuries checked; I’m sorry, but you’ll have to pay for this! :lol
Whoever throws it is responsible. It is said that there are rules in the jade trading business: the items cannot be handed over directly from one person to another; instead, one party must place them on the table and then the other party picks them up
