What is the working principle of a sulfur lock, also known as a liquid sulfur seal? I know it is similar to the principle of a liquid seal. But I don’t know exactly what’s going on. Please, experts, give me some advice
The original purpose of sulfur sealing was to prevent excessive system pressure from affecting upstream equipment. To put it simply, the sulfur plant isn’t important; what matters is upstream production and profitability. Now, the role of sulfur sealing is, on the one hand, to alleviate the excessive pressure in a cabinet system; more importantly, it facilitates the identification of the affected areas when there are problems with system pressure, as the sulfur seals are arranged separately. If centralized sulfur sealing is used, it can actually be eliminated. Now, the SIS system can fully control the emergency shutdown due to pressure issues. Moreover, under the current circumstances, if a sulfur seal ruptures, it causes severe pollution in the surrounding area. China’s sulfur processing techniques need to be improved; it is not possible to continue using methods from ancient times – what is useless should be discarded without hesitation.
The reply from upstairs is very forward-thinking; could you elaborate a bit more? Because I’m interested in how it works

It works on the same principle as the water seal in your household plumbing; there’s no need to overcomplicate it.
The tube side of the sulfur cooler contains a mixture of hydrogen sulfide and liquid sulfur. The sulfur seal makes use of the hydrostatic pressure of the liquid sulfur; it allows only liquid sulfur to flow into the sulfur pit, thereby preventing hydrogen sulfide in the pipelines from leaking out and contaminating the environment or causing unnecessary harm to operators.
What was said on the 5th floor is the easiest to understand! If your household’s drain doesn’t have a water seal, you can imagine what will happen; P

It involves inserting the liquid sulfur pipeline into the storage tank containing liquid sulfur to a certain depth, with this depth determined by the requirements regarding sealing pressure; the liquid sulfur flows out from the upper part of the sulfur sealing tank and into the storage tank.
