In February 2007, David Process Technologies, a subsidiary of British firm Sinopec, signed a contract with Baotou Shenhua Coal Chemical Company; David Process Technologies would provide methanol technology, basic engineering design, and methanol synthesis catalysts for the construction of a coal-based methanol plant with an annual production capacity of 1.83 million tons in Baotou, Inner Mongolia.
