Abstract: Guidelines for selecting horizontal spiral centrifuges 1. For ordinary materials with limited budget, choose a standard three-legged centrifuge. 2. For large processing volumes with low labor requirements, opt for a scraper centrifuge. 3. For starch-based materials, use a horizontal scraper centrifuge. 4. When the particles are loose and the solid particles are large in size, select a hanging-bag type centrifuge. 5. For materials with high viscosity and very fine solid particles, use a sedimentation-type centrifuge. 6. In medical, biological, and food industries, choose GMP-compliant clean centrifuges. 7. Settling centrifuges and filtering centrifuges are both effective for treating fine particles, but the two types cannot replace each other; each has its optimal conditions of use. For processing -0.5 mm fine-grained coal slurry, when the proportion of particles smaller than -0.045 mm (325 mesh) is no more than 20%, a centrifugal force of 250–500 is sufficient to achieve solid-liquid separation; in this case, a sedimentation-filter type centrifuge is a suitable choice ; When the content of –0.045 mm is greater than 50%, solid-liquid separation becomes difficult; in such cases, a sedimentation centrifuge with high centrifugal strength should be chosen.
