Vortex flow meters should be suitable for this purpose; orifice plates have even greater errors. If the budget permits, an ultrasonic flow meter could be tried.
A glass rotameter should suffice; it will work as long as the medium is H2. However, it cannot be used for cumulative measurement
The measurement accuracy of vortex flowmeters is 0.5 grade; currently, apart from mass flowmeters, 0.5 grade instruments are generally sufficient. You had better check the measured pressure and temperature; these two parameters have a significant impact on measurement errors when measuring gases, so verify whether they match the design parameters.
Actually, the latest conical flow meters should be quite good, but they don’t perform well in our company; perhaps a higher purity level of gas is required. For general process control, an orifice plate or Encompass will suffice; if precision isn’t a priority and the process allows it, a rotor meter can also be used; 2. If settlement and measurement are involved, a mass flow meter is the best choice; Rosemount models perform quite well ;
The vortex flow meter used by our company does have considerable errors; it’s not really suitable for use in measuring flow rates for automatic control purposes! :lol
We use orifice plate flow meters for our gases, haha! But there’s hardly any accuracy to it; we basically rely on guessing: lol
For hydrogen metering in trade settlements, it is best to use mass flow meters, as they offer high precision and stable measurement, and they directly measure the mass of hydrogen, thereby avoiding errors resulting from conversions. When measuring hydrogen, attention must be paid to its composition; changes in composition and operating conditions have a significant impact on conventional flowmeters.
Our company also deals in orifice plates, but their accuracy is quite poor; Rosemount’s mass flowmeters seem to be of better quality
We have used cone flow meters as well as vortex flow meters, but the results were not good – they were inaccurate
