Question regarding 316L/1.4404, EN1092-1-B1 flanges

EN is the unified European standard for materials; 1.4404 is the European standard, corresponding to ANSI 316L.

1. In the XXYY format, the number 1 denotes steel, while the numbers following it (XX) represent the characteristics of that steel. Examples are as follows: 00 – Base steel; 01 – Ordinary structural steel with a yield strength of less than 500 N/mm2; 03 – Steel with a carbon content of less than 0.12% or a yield strength of less than 400 N/mm2; 04 – Steel with a carbon content between 0.12% and 0.25% or a yield strength between 400 and 500 N/mm2; 05 – Steel with a carbon content between 0.25% and 0.55% or a yield strength between 500 and 700 N/mm2; 43 – Stainless steel with Ni > 2.5%; 44 – Stainless steel with Ni > 2.5% + Mo; 48 – Heat-resistant steel with Ni > 2.5%. YY represents the serial number assigned by the standards committee. For example: Both materials 1.4401 and 1.4404 are type 316 stainless steel, as indicated by the number 44. The last two digits indicate that although the two steels are similar, their alloy contents differ; however, they do not show by how much. 1.4401 corresponds to 316, while 1.4404 corresponds to 316L. EN denotes the flange standard

Some people say that this L.W. refers to the welding of welded steel pipes. I’m not sure if it’s right? I hope experts can point it out!
